Summer school classes fill fast so it’s best to register early. Here’s the info about Portland Public Schools upcoming sessions:
Summer Scholars is a high school credit recovery and credit advancement program for current year high school students only. It is a tuition-based program for students, including non-PPS students, wanting to recover credit, improve a grade, or for original credit. Each three-week semester is equivalent to 0.5 credit.
Summer Scholars 2011
1st Semester: June 27 – July 18, 2011
(There is no school July 4th, due to the holiday)
2nd Semester: July 25 – August 12, 2011
Class Hours:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30am – Noon
Tuesday: 8:30am – 3pm (includes a ½ hour lunch break)
2010 Tuition Rates (2011 rates aren’t available yet)
Students who live within Portland Public School (P.P.S.) boundaries and/or attend a P.P.S school:
$175.00 for each course (½ credit) or $25 if the student has proof of Free or Reduced meal status.
Students who live outside of P.P.S. boundaries and do not attend a P.P.S.school:
$225.00 for each course (½ credit)
There is no discount for students living outside of P.P.S. boundaries and not attending a P.P.S. school. There is also no discount for tuition being paid by an agency or any entity other than an individual family.
